The Next Journey

It all begins with an idea. Rachel has always enjoyed having a creative outlet in her life. She was a beautiful dancer growing up and then a great dance coach after. As life has taken course, Rachel is no longer dancing or coaching, but instead being the best mom for our growing family. Today, Instagram has become her creative outlet, with a family focus. She has developed a passion for capturing the little moments in life and sharing them through photography. In doing so, the details matter. She loves matching outfits, editing photos and good lighting. Role all of this together and she had an idea to take her passions to the next level.

As our family’s story continues to unfold, we are now taking on the next journey in life. House of Five. This idea became a dream and is now becoming a reality (with a little nudge from me). I’m here to tell you about how we got here, and where we are headed…….well…… we might not know where we are headed, but we can pretend.

Rewind back a few months when Rachel decided I was right and it was time to take her idea to the next level. You read that right, she decided I was right. At this point is was getting over the nervous to make it happen. She had been wanting to take the leap for quite some time but wasn't sure where to start. The idea of taking on such a big project seemed overwhelming. Starting a website (what platform), creating an LLC (if that’s how real she wanted it), designing shirts (how do we do that?), what will it cost to get things rolling? The truth is, when you list things out, anything can feel overwhelming. To get where you want to go, you just have to start walking. One night I decided it was time to give her a loving husband-like nudge….I bought a domain name and website subscription. There we were, $312 in, off and running. Neither of us were proficient in building a website, but how hard could it be, right? We were soon going to find out.
